The story so far
51 Holdsworth street has been a factory since it stood alone on the banks of Coorparoo creek in the early nineteen hundreds. This industrial brick building has morphed through a series of uses from metal fabrication and enamel painting to a bustling laminex factory, as the suburb of Coorparoo grew up around it. The original cast iron band saw still has pride of place in the front window.
Nestled in Inner-city Coorparoo, the handsome red brick warehouse and grounds have been carefully restored as a Bistro, Bar and Elegant Function Venue of outstanding rustic and industrial character and visual appeal. The vision projects excellent food and service whilst, providing a spectacular addition to the Brisbane dining scene.
This restoration is industrial chic at its finest. The huge interior space has been sympathetically redesigned, exposing the warm, mellow brick of the walls and the original rustic steel beams. Inside the stunning bar and bistro area, a long brick and jade green marble bar sweeps across the space, a three tonne wood fired oven sits proudly behind. Elegant grid windows and French doors let in ample natural light complemented by the large sky lights that channel sunlight and moonlight alike. The original loading area has been transformed into a relaxed alfresco dining space with a large retractable roof always at the ready for Brisbane blue skies and starry Brisbane nights to ensure a unique dining experience whatever the outside weather conditions. The interior and exterior space is softened by lush greenery and herbaceous plants that spill down walls and sprawl over pots and planters.
The unique and elegant industrial function room known as ‘The Workshop‘, is down a softly lit, red brick lane towards the rear of the grounds. As you enter this space you instantly notice the dazzling Czech crystal chandelier hanging from the rustic, webbed steel beams. The soaring brick walls lead up to the cathedral style, pitched ceiling. The old roller doors have been replaced by French doors and tall grid style windows that lead to the private outdoor terrace. A stunning jade green marble bar adds that touch of class to the space.
