If you’re after a christening venue in Brisbane that brings family, food and atmosphere together, we’d love to host you. We’ve held countless christening and baptism celebrations for Brisbane families, each one different, but most built around the same thing: a relaxed, generous long lunch where the people who matter gather around the table. Factory 51 is in the heart of Coorparoo, minutes from the CBD, with a private function room, handcrafted Italian banquet menus and genuine hospitality.
A space that feels personal, not corporate
Christenings are family affairs, and the room should feel like it. The Workshop is a dedicated private function room in a restored industrial warehouse, with warm exposed brick, polished concrete, long timber tables, ambient lighting, your own private bar and exclusive access, AV for slideshows or background music, and private restrooms with baby-change facilities. Whether you’re planning a traditional baptism lunch or a modern naming day, it can be dressed up or kept beautifully simple.
Style it your way
It’s your child’s day, so you have full styling freedom, florals, linen runners, balloon garlands, welcome signage or centrepieces, whether you DIY or bring a stylist. We’ll give you access before the event for setup and can help with layout or supplier coordination, and you’re welcome to bring cultural or religious items to honour your family’s tradition.
Bring your own cultural desserts
One of the loveliest parts of a christening is the food traditions families bring, Greek and Italian sweets, Middle Eastern pastries, Filipino delicacies or a family cake. While our kitchen prepares the savoury dishes fresh on the day, we set up a dedicated dessert table for your own treats, and you’re welcome to bring your own cake.
The banquet feast
Our most popular christening menu is the Italian banquet feast, served to share down the table: house-made focaccia and antipasti boards, arancini or Italian-style meatballs, handmade sourdough pasta like pappardelle or gnocchi, slow-roasted meats such as lamb shoulder or porchetta, and fresh seasonal salads and vegetables. It’s generous, warm, and exactly the kind of food you want to share with your closest family and friends. For tables of more than 10, this shared-feast style is how we serve so everyone eats together.
A venue that understands families
Christenings mean multiple generations, babies, young kids and grandparents, sometimes from out of town, and we’re set up for all of them: room for prams and nappy bags, high chairs on request, private restrooms with baby-change, a safe enclosed room for kids to move around, flexible timing, and easy street parking with public transport nearby. Functions run seven days a week, lunch or dinner, though Sunday lunch is far and away the most popular time for christenings.
Close to Brisbane’s churches and chapels
We’re about 10 minutes from the CBD and easy to reach from Camp Hill, Greenslopes, Holland Park, Norman Park, East Brisbane, Carindale and the wider southside, close to many of Brisbane’s churches, cathedrals and chapels, so the move from ceremony to celebration is simple.

A Warm Space for a Christening Celebration
After the church, families need somewhere relaxed to gather, eat and celebrate together — and Factory 51 is built for exactly that. The Coorparoo warehouse hosts christening lunches and receptions in a private, characterful space that works for every generation, from grandparents to godparents to the youngest guests. It is an easy, welcoming setting for a Sunday celebration rather than a stiff formal function room.
Family-Friendly Italian Feasting
Share-style Italian food brings a christening table together naturally — antipasti, handmade pasta and woodfired pizza that suit kids and adults alike, all made in-house and served by our team. Dietary needs are easily handled, the bar covers everything from coffee to celebratory drinks, and a coordinator looks after the details. With no venue-hire fee, a family celebration stays simple and good value.
Easy for the Whole Family
Coorparoo sits about 12 minutes from the Brisbane CBD with easy parking, so guests of all ages can get there without fuss. The space scales from a small family lunch to a larger gathering of up to 180, and the team will shape the day around your family and the tone you want.
