Guests arrived from 6pm to find cocktails already flowing and the room dressed and ready. Woodfired sourdough garlic and herb focaccia circulated alongside a generous grazing cheese board – cheeses, quince, fresh fruit, house lavosh, and crackers. The evening settled naturally into the relaxed, social atmosphere that cocktail receptions do best.
In fact, there’s a particular quality to those first thirty minutes that a formal dinner rarely captures. Guests arrive at their own pace. They find their people. Conversations start, branch, and come back around. The room builds gradually and organically. By the time the first canapes arrive, everyone has already found their rhythm for the night.
For Ellen and Justin, that rhythm arrived quickly. And it stayed all evening.

- Buffalo ricotta crostini with onion jam and cured pork loin
- Thyme and garlic chicken skewers with parmesan and capsicum sauce
- Open beef brisket and pea pies
- Calamari fritte with salsa verde aioli
- Signature pizzette selections
- Radiatore pasta with pork ragù, olives, parsley, and pecorino
The variety meant guests were always discovering something new. The pasta in particular – radiatore with pork ragù – is the kind of dish that stops conversations briefly while everyone decides it’s the best thing they’ve eaten all week. After speeches and the cake cutting (a beautiful creation by Petal and Peach Cakes), the team brought in the venue’s projector and drop-down screen. The visual moment added yet another dimension to an already joyful evening.
Then there was the dance floor. As it always does at Factory 51 weddings with the Baker Boys Band playing, it filled quickly and stayed full.
