Factory51 is Coorparoo’s Italian restaurant. Tucked into 51 Holdsworth Street – a ten-minute drive from Brisbane’s CBD and moments from Camp Hill, Greenslopes, Woolloongabba, and Holland Park – it’s the place southside locals have made their own.
Whether you’re after a midweek dinner with someone you love, a long Saturday lunch with the family, or a table for ten that needs looking after properly, Factory51 is set up for it. The industrial-chic warehouse space, wood-fired kitchen, and genuinely warm service have made it one of the most-returned-to restaurants on Brisbane’s southside for close to a decade.
Why Coorparoo Locals Keep Coming Back
It starts with the food. The pizza dough cold-ferments for 48 hours before it sees the wood-fired oven. The pasta is made in-house – handmade gnocchi, sourdough fettuccine, pappardelle that absorbs the sauce rather than sitting under it. The ingredients are seasonal, sourced locally where it makes sense and imported from Italy where it doesn’t.
But it’s also the room. Factory51 doesn’t feel like a chain, and it doesn’t feel like it’s trying too hard. The exposed brick, the high ceilings, the open kitchen – it creates an atmosphere that lets the food speak without the space getting in the way.
Serving the Brisbane Southside – From Coorparoo to Woolloongabba
Factory51’s dining room draws regulars from right across Brisbane’s southside. If you’re coming from Camp Hill, you’re a 5-minute drive away. From Greenslopes, less than that. Woolloongabba, Holland Park, Norman Park – all within 10 minutes, with easy free street parking when you arrive.
For southside Brisbane, Factory51 fills a gap that’s hard to fill: a genuinely good Italian restaurant that’s not in the CBD, has room for groups, and doesn’t feel like a special occasion is required to enjoy it.
What to Order
Wood-fired pizza: The sourdough base is the foundation – blistered, light, with enough char to remind you it came from a real oven. The Calabrese and the Prosciutto & Fig are consistently ordered.
Share feasts: The Italian feast format is the best way to experience the full kitchen – antipasto, pasta, mains, and sides arrive in waves for the table to share. Ideal for groups of four or more.
Handmade pasta: Made daily. Order the gnocchi if it’s on – it’s the kind that disappears before you’ve decided whether to share it.
Wine: The list is short, considered, and priced fairly. Mostly Italian and Australian, with a focus on bottles that work with food rather than against it.
