Best Dog-Friendly Restaurants Brisbane 2026: Where to Eat Out With Your Dog

by | Apr 10, 2025 | Restaurant & Dining

Dogs make most things better, dinner included. If you’re after a dog-friendly restaurant on Brisbane’s southside, you can bring your best mate along to Factory 51, where dogs are welcome in our outdoor courtyard.

Dog-friendly dinners at Factory 51

We’re a dinner venue, open from 5pm, and our rustic courtyard, strung with festoon lights and warmed by timber tables, is made for a relaxed evening with your dog stretched out beside you. The team are happy to bring a water bowl, and you can settle in over a wine, handmade pasta and wood-fired pizza while your pup people-watches and quietly hopes for a bit of crust.

Why it works

A spacious, dog-friendly outdoor area; pet-loving staff who’ll sort a water bowl; a coeliac-friendly and gluten-free Italian menu so the whole table’s looked after; and a cosy evening atmosphere that suits a low-key catch-up or a small celebration. It’s the small moments, your dog under the table on a warm Brisbane night, that make dinner together feel a bit special.

Good to know

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor courtyard rather than indoors, so it’s best enjoyed in fine weather. We’re open for dinner from 5pm, Tuesday to Sunday, and closed Mondays. On busier nights it’s worth booking ahead and letting us know you’re bringing your dog so we can seat you in the courtyard.

What Makes a Restaurant Genuinely Dog-Friendly

“Dog-friendly” covers a lot of ground, from a grudging spot by the gutter to a genuine welcome. The places worth seeking out share a few things: comfortable covered or outdoor seating where dogs are actually allowed, enough room between tables that your dog is not underfoot, shade and access to water, and staff who treat a well-behaved dog as a normal part of the day rather than a problem. Factory 51 sits firmly in the welcoming camp. We’re genuine dog lovers — dogs are welcome throughout the restaurant rather than tucked into a token corner, and we always bring them a bowl of fresh water. Bringing your dog along to a meal here feels easy and natural rather than awkward.

Tips for a Smooth Dog-Friendly Dinner

A little planning makes dining out with your dog far more enjoyable for everyone. Time your visit for quieter periods — early evenings and off-peak afternoons are calmer for an excitable dog than a packed Saturday night. Walk them beforehand so they are settled, bring water and a mat or blanket so they have their own spot, and keep them on a short lead near other diners and staff. A few treats to reward calm behaviour go a long way, and it never hurts to call ahead and confirm where dogs are welcome to sit.

Dining With Your Dog Through Brisbane’s Seasons

Brisbane’s climate shapes a good dog-friendly outing. In the warmer months, shade and water matter most — aim for cooler parts of the day and avoid hot paving underfoot. In the milder months, an outdoor table is hard to beat. Either way, a covered, comfortable space means a change in weather does not cut your plans short, which is part of what makes a reliable dog-friendly venue worth knowing.

Why Locals Bring Their Dogs to Factory 51

For plenty of Coorparoo and southside locals, being able to bring the dog is exactly why Factory 51 has become a regular rather than a one-off. A weekend lunch or relaxed weeknight dinner does not have to mean leaving your dog at home, and the easygoing, character-rich setting suits a long, unhurried meal with the whole family. Pair that with handmade pasta, woodfired pizza and genuine Italian share plates, and it is the kind of place you can settle in for the afternoon — dog happily stretched out beside you. It is dog-friendly in the way that actually matters: you and your dog are both genuinely welcome.
