ONLINE RETAILERS OFFERING WEDDING DRESS EDITS
An unexpected result of covid-19 has been the increased demand for quick, affordable, and beautiful wedding dresses. The rise in low-key weddings coupled with lengthy shipping delays and the desire for door-to-door service has sent brides many searching for “the one” outside of the traditional brick and mortar bridal store. Thankfully, online retailers have come to the party with their wedding-worthy dress offerings. Whether you’re relaxed and understated, looking for a little number to dance up a storm, or simply need a stunning gown stat, we’ve rounded up some of the best wedding dresses you can buy online.
Dissh
DISSH are the latest online retailer to drop their gorgeous eight-piece bridal collection. Shot in the streets of Paris by Australian photographer India Hartford-Davis, Capsule Two of The Aisle Edit “exudes effortless romance, featuring feminine silhouettes with a laidback sense of cool.”
The much-loved linen mini makes its return with two sweet-as-pie options: the Panel Mini Dress featuring crisp panelling on a baby doll design with an adjustable bow at the nape of the neck; and the Linen Back Bow Dress which puts a twist on a classic strapless with large statement bow detail at the back. Oh, and did we mention it has pockets? Love that!
Beautiful bows and bare backs continue to dominate this capsule, with the Linen High Neck Dress a perfect combination of sexy and cute. Featuring a high neckline and open back, this ankle-length version is reminiscent of the Panel Mini Dress with its white linen panelling and adjustable bow tie.
If you’re wanting a less traditional bridal look, the Ramie Backless Top pairs beautifully with the Linen Flare Pant, as does the Linen Sleeve Top and Tier Long Skirt. We see this style fitting beautifully in our Tuscan-inspired rustic wedding venue!
Cooler months are covered with the elegance of the Aisle White Linen Sleeve Midi Dress featuring long sleeves and micro button detailing.
Bec + Bridge
Our favourite Australian label has given us the chills once again with their latest wedding edit ‘A Modern Romance’. You’ll see plenty of slips and figure-skimming silhouettes in lustrous fabrics with just the right amount of shine.
We’re fawning over The Dreamer Strapless Dress as it falls effortless from the hips into a relaxed fit to the floor. The low cowl tie back of The Moon Dance Maxi Dress is feminine and sexy, whilst The Dreamer Strapless Top and Skirt makes a sleek and sophisticated two piece option.
The collection comes in several colours including Golden, Black, Ink, Ivory, and Sage, but it’s their pearly shade Sand that’s caught our eye giving the traditional white a bit of a glow up. Paired with the giant crystal chandelier at Factory51, we think it’s pure class.
Hazel and Folk
The Emmaline Gown is “vintage inspired, [with an] easy wear flowing design. Think full ruffle tiered skirt, romantic poet sleeves, elastic cuffs, and neckline in earthy tones. [It] can be worn on or off the shoulder and comes with a matching removable waist tie.” You can choose from nine different shades, with our picks being White, Rosewater, or Sage Green for the wedding day.
The Isabella Gown also comes in White, with alternative options including Rosewater and French Vanilla. “Made from sustainable vegan Eucalyptus Voile, the Isabella Gown has a soft silky feel, featuring a low draped back, lightly shirred waist detail, and a three-tiered skirt with ruffle trim”.
Alamour the Label
Tucked amongst Alamour the Label’s made-to-order Bridal Collection are a range of gorgeous in-stock gowns. We went scrolling and found standouts in the Eleora, Clematis, Dalia, and Sandy.
The Eleora Dress has the “effortlessness of a classic slip while also featuring a standout feather bodice for those who love to make an entrance”. We have visions of this twirling on our dance floor! The Clematis Dress is part of Alamour’s Monte Carlo Collection. Designed for women who want to make a statement, it features layered feathered fabric on a halter neckline with an open back. Imagine arriving to your wedding reception in this statement number!
Their Exclusive Rome Collection produced both the Dalia and Sandy. Dalia exudes elegance with a sweetheart neckline, sheer mermaid train, and 3D floral embellishments. Sandy is made from semi sheer, shiny striped fabric. Also an off-the-shoulder silhouette, this ladylike gown flatters and proves that stripes can most definitely look soft.
Rebecca Vallance
Australian Designer Rebecca Vallance has crafted a collection of wedding dresses featuring clean lines, modern cuts, and our favourite oversized bows. Set against the contrasting exposed brick in The Workshop, it’s an aesthetic dream.
The Monique Gown is elegantly tailored from textured crepe, with long sleeves, pleated shoulders, and statement taffeta bow. The understated high neck front of the Amore Bow Gown is balanced with a large taffeta bow perched behind the waist, whilst the Rosette Strapless Gown features long bow tails reminiscent of a trailing veil.
Showpo
Showpo’s Wedding edit features sweetheart necklines, thigh-high splits, fishtail trains, and slip silhouettes.
We love the delicate pearl straps and elegantly draped cowl back of the Entwined Dreams Pearl Strap Gown; the feminine asymmetrical mesh shoulder detailing of the Put A Ring On it Gown; and the balloon sleeves with fitted cuffs on the two piece Charm Bells Twist Front Bridal Set.
And whilst not part of their wedding edit per se, we think Showpo’s One For The Money Dress makes a perfect wedding day option for the budget-conscious bride.
